Sacred Heart College of Arts and Science, established in 2012, is a service-oriented, self-financing institution affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. Founded with the vision of providing quality higher education to rural and marginalized youth, the college stands as a beacon of hope for students deprived of academic opportunities due to socio-economic barriers.
Guided by the Sacred Heart charism - “Education of Heart and Mind” - the institution integrates academic excellence, value-based learning, and holistic development. Every initiative at Sacred Heart aims to transform young minds into competent, compassionate, and socially responsible individuals.

OUR HISTORY
|
The Brothers Congregation envisioned a college in Dindigul to meet the educational needs of the surrounding rural communities. Recognizing the challenges faced by students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, The Most Rev. P. Antony Pappusamy, D.D., S.T.D., then Bishop of Dindigul, generously offered 15 acres of land for the establishment of the institution - a noble gesture that paved the way for the founding of Sacred Heart College of Arts and Science.
Since its inception, the college has strived continuously to provide access to higher education, skill-based training, and character formation. The focus remains on academic excellence and personality development, enabling students to live with dignity and contribute meaningfully to an equitable social order.

ACADEMIC GROWTH
|
Sacred Heart College currently offers 12 Undergraduate and 4 Postgraduate programs. The continuous expansion of the curriculum reflects the institution’s dedication to quality education and its readiness to embrace emerging disciplines.
• In 2021, the college launched the B.Sc. Visual Communication (VISCOM) program to meet the growing demand in the media and communication industry. This program equips students with cutting-edge skills in visual media, technology, and creativity, preparing them for diverse career opportunities.
• In 2022, the Department of Psychology was established, offering B.Sc. Psychology. The department provides a blend of theoretical knowledge, laboratory practice, and field exposure, fostering a deeper understanding of the human mind and behavior. It also collaborates with global academic networks and actively participates in community mental health awareness initiatives.
